Yan-Kai Tzeng is an associate scientist at the SLAC-Stanford Battery Research Center, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. from National Taiwan University in 2014 and completed his postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Steven Chu at Stanford University, where he also served as a research associate. With over 18 years of research experience, he specializes in the optical characterization of quantum and energy materials.
Currently, his research focuses on developing novel optical characterization techniques for energy storage systems, including lithium-ion, sodium-ion, lithium-sulfur, and aqueous batteries. His work aims to visualize ion movement and material morphology changes during the charging and discharging processes of these batteries. Additionally, he seeks to provide new technologies for a deeper mechanistic understanding of battery performance.
