Following almost a decade as a consultant in environmental and social responsibility (ESR) in the mining industry, Simon Thibault joined Nemaska Lithium in 2015 as Director of Environmental and Social Responsibility. His mandate included implementation of the environmental and social management systems, permitting, government affairs, and community relations. In 2020, he acted as the Director Regulation & Public Policy for Propulsion Quebec, an industrial cluster dedicated to electrification of transportation in Quebec and a year later, joined Investment Quebec where he acted as Senior Director – Battery Strategy, from 2021 to 2023. His mandate included coordinating with other government agencies and industrials to develop, implement, and execute Quebec’s Battery Strategy. In early 2023, Simon joined GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain team where he acts as EV Critical Materials Leader and is focused on ensuring success of GM’s partnership project Ultium CAM as well as building a sustainable and regionalized supply chain for GM in North America.
