Dr. Marc Deschamps is Director of the Electrochemistry Division at Blue Solutions, a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group and a global designer and manufacturer of solid-state batteries.
He joined the company in 1999. He has been a key player in the development and advancement of the Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP®) battery for Bolloré and its subsidiaries Batscap and Blue Solutions. In 2011, the LMP® battery became the first all-solid lithium metal secondary battery to enter the mobility market, used in the Blue Car and the Bluebus.
As Director of Blue Solutions‘ Electrochemistry Division, he oversees a team of around one hundred people who manage all activities, from R&D and application monitoring to mass production and recycling. A significant part of his team is dedicated to the research and development of a new lithium metal battery technology (GEN4), which operates at room temperature and uses an ultra-thin lithium anode.
Dr. Deschamps has over 30 years’ experience in the field of lithium batteries. He obtained his PhD in electrochemistry from Grenoble University in 1995, with a thesis entitled “Contribution to the study of the carbon-lithium electrode with polymer electrolyte”. After his PhD, he spent 3 years in Japan with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, focusing on the development of new liquid electrodes for Li-ion batteries.
In addition to his R&D expertise, Dr. Deschamps has in-depth knowledge of raw materials, battery design and optimization for various applications. He is actively involved in perfecting the “all-solid” process. He holds over 40 patents covering a wide range of subjects, including anode and cathode materials, formulations, electrolytes, salts, processes, safety, and recycling.
