Professor Uosaki is Principal Fellow of Center for Research and Development Strategy (CRDS), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Emeritus Fellow of National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and Professor Emeritus of Hokkaido University.
He is also Program Director (PD) of Green Technologies of Excellence (GteX) and PD of ALCA-Next). He graduated with B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees from Osaka University in 1969 and 1971, respectively, and did his Ph. D. at the Flinders University of South Australia (1974 – 1976).
He worked in Mitsubishi Petrochemical (1971-1978) and Inorganic Chemistry Lab. of Oxford University (1978-1980) before he joined Chemistry Department of Hokkaido University as Assistant Professor in 1980.
He was promoted to Associate and Full Professor in 1981 and 1990, respectively.
In 2010, he retired from Hokkaido University and joined NIMS as PI of International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA).
He was Director of Global Research Center for Environment and Energy based on Nanomaterials Science (GREEN) between 2013 and 2019.
He has published more than 450 original papers on electrochemical science and energy conversion.
He received several awards including the Society Awards of Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) and Surface Science Society of Japan (SSSJ) and is Fellow of RSC, ISE, ECS and CSJ.
