François Raymond studied chemistry at the University of Montreal. He received a M.Sc. in conductive polymers chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Mario Leclerc. For his master’s thesis, he designed and studied new thiophene-based polyaromatic polymers. After 2 years spent in industrial research on organic electronics, he undertook doctoral studies in Prof. James D. Wuest’s group, focusing on supramolecular chemistry of fullerenes and of some derivatives of triptycene. He received the PhD in organic chemistry in 2011. He joined the department of chemistry of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in 2011, after teaching one year in Collège André-Grasset in Montreal. He has taught courses on general chemistry, chemistry of solutions, organic chemistry and ICT, passionate about their use in chemistry for molecular modeling. He also supervises students’ preparation to science contests and field activities. In addition to his teaching, he acts as a scientific advisor to Solaris Chem, a company working in the field of optoelectronics. François Raymond received in 2019 the Beaumier Award from the Chemical Institute of Canada.
