Dr. Byoungwoo Kang is a full Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) and head of DMSE at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in South Korea. He received a B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. After then, he obtained his Ph.D. in Department of Materials Science and Engineering (2010) from MIT, USA. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at the same department for 2 years and joined POSTECH at 2011. His current research interest at POSTECH includes (1) developing high-capacity electrode materials by using both cationic and anionic reaction and single crystal approach, and high-capacity anode by using silicon and silicon oxides for Li-ion batteries, and (2) developing oxidebased solid electrolytes and all-solid-state battery by understanding interfacial reactions, utilizing Li metal, and developing integration process. Dr. Kang became Muenjae Chaired Professor (2024 -2027), and was the recipient of Young distinguished professor in POSTECH (2021-2024) and CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) (2019).
